Big town....small town feel
One of the things that I love about our neighborhood (besides the racoons eating our garbage every stinkin' night) is our neighbors. We are surrounded by widows or older couples which made it interesting when we moved in - to have these boys running around in the streets -well, not really in the streets but there was a lot more noise on our street when the Robinson's moved in. We haven't been very consistant at this lately but we used to make cookies, brownies, treats for our neighbors almost every Sunday and the boys looked forward to that so much. They loved to deliver them to our old neighbors and the neighbors loved it just as much. We need to back to doing that. Anyway, we formed a really special friendship with all of our neighbors. And you know old people....they look forward to the littest things. Since Bennett has been in school one of our elderly neighbors has waited outside for him everymorning as Bennett has walked to the bus stop. Hes always out there in his drive way, pipe in his mouth, white shirt, jeans in his somewhat old southern accent "mornin' Ben. You'd better get to crackin'". Its sweet how much these neighbors love the boys. Bennett just runs on by and says, "Hi Bob". Sometimes he stops to talk but most recently he just trots on down to the bus stop. Now Harry, Harry loves Bob and looks forward to seeing him. "Hi Bob" he says...its so cute. At Halloween our neighbors have "special' bags for the boys filled with candy and little toys. They look forward to that night and love to see them all dressed up. They want to take their pictures, its really quite sweet. As we walked down to the stop Bob wasn't out yet but on the way back I saw him walking down the drive way and he said, "I missed Bennett this morning. Did he bring a jacket." Its nothing at all, but it made me think about how people you normally wouldn't expect to have an impact on you, do. To think that a 6,5 and 2 year old would mean so much to a 70 year old man. He looks forward to those mornings and I will miss that when we decide to move. Our very social boys have made it so easy for us have friendships with our neighbors. We have ice cream socials and we sit out sometimes in the fall around our fire pit and just talk. Kids have a wonderful gift of bringing people together. I just love my little neighborhood, it'll be sad to leave but oh so exciting to one day have a garage and a full size dishwasher and a place for all our "stuff". We feel very blessed to live here in this part of our lives.

I like this memory.
WOW that is wonderful. It almost made me cry. But i am more emotional lately. That is something that i would write in a journal so that you and your kids will always have that memory. Thanks for sharing
That is so special! You're exactly right, kids do have a way of bringing people together. Neat, neat!!
